Hi Tina,<br />
<br />
While today's technology provides us with wonderful tools to share personal moments (such as photographs of school plays and big smiles of happy students), we humbly request that you keep in mind the dangers of posting content over web-based, photo-sharing services.<br />

Hi Tina,<br />
<br />
While today's technology provides us with wonderful tools to share personal moments (such as photographs of school plays and big smiles of happy students), we humbly request that you keep in mind the dangers of posting content over web-based, photo-sharing services.<br />
<br />
Extra caution also should be taken when handling content pertaining to children.<br />
<br />
Websites like Flickr, Photobucket, and many others detail under their Terms-of-Service that you grant the website "the license to use, distribute, reproduce, modify, adapt, publicly perform, and publicly display such Content on the Service solely for the purposes of providing and promoting the specific group to which such Content was submitted or made available." (excerpt from a Yahoo! Groups photo-sharing service)<br />
<br />
By utilizing these services, you also expose your user content to third-party companies. <b>The fact is you don't know who will be viewing your posted pictures.</b> Another thing to consider is that cyber-predators in these times require as little as a school logo on a child's sweatshirt to be able to track their location.<br />
<br />
While the convenience of web-based services is appealing, I would highly recommend setting up a secure service such as Dropbox (<a href="https://www.getdropbox.com/">https://www.getdropbox.com/</a>) to be able to share your photo albums. This service would allow designated users (which you moderate) access to easily down-loadable, private content. It would also allow selected users to contribute their own photos to the school's montage.<br />
<br />
Whichever service you do decide on, please take a close look at their Terms-of-Service and User License Agreements before uploading any content. Try smugmug.com. Try smugmug.com. You can password protect it, set your own prices and make a few cents on the prints, and set up to purchase other items such as mousepads, mugs, totes, etc. You can request a school/nonprofit account. Uploading is pretty easy, create your own galleries, etc. We're using it for the first time this school year, but our trial users last year were very impressed.

Our school used Snapfish for that purpose for the first time last year. The parents loved it! Many of them downloaded photos and ordered prints. I added most of the photos last year, but I'm going to encourage this year's parents to share their photos from parties and school events as well. I just created a private group, so the photos were for parents only. It would be great to coordinate with the yearbook/website staff, so they can access the photos as well.

Hi Tina:<br />
<br />
Wow, that is interesting. Would your classes upload pictures by class or would you like to for the entire class? You can see Parentella.com<br />
<br />
un: Mr. Pencil<br />
pw: demo<br />
<br />
Teachers can upload pictures for the class and parents can see them, only for that class, of course. The pictures expire remain with the class year. Let me know what you think.
