Last minute help!

I am presenting to the PTA tomorrow about homework, strategies, procedures, tricks....etc.

Looking to the educators of the world for LAST minute help...sorry for the last minute notice...but thought I should just try anyway!

THXS FOR ANYONE, who is willing to give their TOP THREE homework helper tips...ANY TYPE!

Don't give any.  Homework should be an option for teachers to give, not a requirement.  Students will have homework though, and making sure they have a time and place at home to do it is a priority.  Be it everyday at 7pm at the dining room table or whatever.  Top three tips:  1) materials  2) time  3) place.


Thanks Scott....I believe that students should create their own homework and should be monitored by the teacher. The reality is that...we as adults do this whenever we are interested in a topic. Of course there are more details to this approach, but I would LOVE to try it! Just need my district agree.

One of my favorite homework assignment is to have them read a list of directions and CIRCLE the VERB and UNDERLINE what the VERB wants you to do...they then have to write down how many steps in the directions. (NUMBER OF VERBS)...Has been really helpful when they read directions on assessments and assignments.
