Hi Lori, I'm a student teacher with a web design background. I'm going on my next practicum in a months time and will most likely have to give lessons around building a web site so was looking for something that is relatively straight forward. this looks like it might be worth a try. I'd be interested to know how it works out for you, is it possible to see your site?

I'd like to see how you set of your class pages, also, if possible. I'm all for collaboration, as well. I work in an independent study school so I'm trying to incorporate technology to keep students connected outside of their limited one-on-one time.

Thanks Lori so much for sharing and I think the sites are great. I especially like the prompt questions you have in there, they look as though they are a good starting point to get them writing.

I came across Tween Tribune on Nancy Bosch's student's site. If you're not already aware of it, you can register your class, select stories from different topics and have your students comment and discuss all regulated by an administrator/yourself. I haven't used it yet, but it looks like a good tool.

That is a great idea! I wanted to try this with my students this year, and it sounds like weebly.com is a great platform to try it out. Have you had any issues with parents/privacy? What age are your students? Do they work cooperatively with parents or is this student-directed? My students are young (2nd grade) so I want to get the parents involved. Thanks for the great idea!

Hi Lori,
My very first blog attempt! I am interested in your expperiences with weebly. I looked at it, but haven't begun a class website yet. I hope you can answer a few questions?
1-Did you create one site and add/assign your students individual pages, or do they post on only one page?
2-How user-friendly did your young students find weebly? Did they have a lot of "teacher help" in development?
3-How did you handle permission/privacy with the parents?

I have used a website builder called yola. It's free and user friendly. I show you what your website will look like as you build it.
