Hello, I am a kindergarten teacher and constantly searching for new ideas. Digital story telling is a new interest to me and I am still looking for new ways to incorporate it into my classroom. Last year was my first year teaching and my students loved writing and telling stories. The students had great imaginations. To help my students "publish" their writing we did a variety of activities. One activity we did was download the app educreations and had the students tell their stories through there. Therefore the students would draw their pictures and then record their stories. I have also used the app aurasma. Here the students color a picture and write a story regarding the picture. When they are ready to share their story I hold the ipad up to the picture and the picture becomes 3D. These activities worked great with my students last year. But this year my students are having a very hard time creating stories. The students are not interested in creating stories and I have done everything I can think of to help encourage the students to think of new stories. I would love to hear any ideas that you may have to help encourage the students to think out of the box and be creative when writing the stories.
I am a first year 3rd grade teacher, and I am looking for new ways to incorporate technology into my lessons. My students get really excited when we use the computers within out building, or the ipads. I have not done as much with them this year as I would have liked, and I am hoping to gather more ideas for the future.
I am thinking of trying out Digital Storytelling within these last few weeks of school. My students are wrapping up a writing/social studies piece about Westward Expansion. My students have been immersed in the life of a pioneer student (all the 3rd grade classes are using a program called Apple Valley to educate our students about this time period). Students were given families within our classes, a new name and age, we made new class rules (which mimic rules of the 1850's) and so on. My students have really loved this! The writing piece we are completing had students doing research on the Oregon Trail experience. Students have conducted this research with their "families". Students then worked together to synthesize their research and write three cohesive journal entries for their own Oregon Trail journey. We are at the point now where these pieces are written, and students are drawing images/sketches along the edges of their journal entries. My thoughts are to have each student bring their journey to life with Digital Storytelling! I am new to this, so any suggestions are welcome. :)
I've become very interested in Digital Storytelling, especially since my students this year have such an interest in technology! I teach 1st grade so my students are only 6-7 years old. However, each year it seems my students become more and more literate in technology! I am constantly looking for a way to incorporate the use of technology into the classroom. My students LOVE to tell stories! I think it would be amazing to see them develop digital stories to share with their classmates! All of the examples I find of Digital Storytelling include classrooms that are 3rd grade or older. I know my students would love this, but I am hoping someone from this group would share their creative ideas for using Digital Storytelling with the little ones too! I know I could sit down with them one on one or in small groups, but does anyone have an elementary friendly editing program that they'd like to share with me? I look forward to learning from you all!
Additionally, I am so impressed by the content of your post Mon Vall. It's so helpful to new and aspiring Digital Storytellers like myself and my students. I think it's so important for my students to express themselves in a way that they understand and love! Digital Storytelling is the perfect way to allow my first graders to express themselves!

The Future of Storytelling
I want to share how I use GlogsterEdu - Premium for digital storytelling and project - based learning. I'm from Bulgaria and one day my colleague Bob Greenberg from Bridgeport, CT sent me a video on Skype where his second graders were telling the story about 'Borrowers" It was so cute, loved it for the first sight and thought it might be very useful for my Bulgarian fourth graders to study the story and improve their their language and basic key skills. I asked Bob about the script of the video. So I made a template glog http://sunrise651.edu.glogster.com/the-borrowers-order-to-make-the-... and set up a project work to my students. They should make my glog personal in their stdents' accounts and do the tasks I had given. It was to listen and watch the story and

I am doing my Master's Degree in Educational Technology and one of the requirements for the class is to develop a lesson using digital storytelling with problem-based learning. I would like to know some ideas about how to use the storytelling based on the activity explain at http://www.mrsoshouse.com/ext/ensavebulb.html. I will appreciate the help. I do not have experience using this technology.
Ormisha what did you make your digital story about and what software did you use?
I am finishing a master's degree in educational technology and had to do a digital story for one of the courses. It was exhilarating. I would love to learn more about free software. Excited about joining.
