Hello everyone

I have just joined this group in Classroom 2.0 hoping to collaborate !

I have recently begun work with a school and college to provide professional development for teachers and instructors around 21st Century Learning and Web 2.0 tools. There is no face-to-face contact – this PD is to be fully web-based, in both asynchronous and real-time delivery.

My school and college runs its courses via Elluminate in real time with teachers spread out across the country – Canada. The initiative will also draw in teachers from other schools, districts and regions. One district runs a mostly asynchronous delivery model, with once-weekly live Elluminate sessions. Another district is traditional delivery. This is truly a “mixed-bag” of experiences and situations.

The plan is to have once-weekly Elluminate sessions to introduce Web 2.0 tools and discuss 21st Century learning principles. Outside of that time, I am hoping to interact 1-on-1 with individual teachers throughout the day in real time or via email etc, as they look to use the tools in their own personal development and in their instruction.

Familiarizing themselves with the tools is, I think, the preferred approach at this time. Not a mastery level, but a solid grounding. This may be opposed to those who think that the instructional and outcome needs should drive the adoption of the tool. I think exposing instructors to what students are using in the real world is the my motivation.

Any tips, advice, collaboration, challenges or whatever would be appreciated.

HI everyone
I have just joined this group in Classroom 2.0. I am involved in providing PD for teachers and have also been involved in an IT cluster. I am also completing a Master degree and I am presently developing my own professional development portfolio for submission - so hopefully I will be able to share some ideas and learn from you all as well.

How do children learn? In many different ways. There is no "right" way to teach every child. The trick is finding the right way.

I need a few paragraph response from experienced teachers with regard to the prompt: "How do you feel students learn?. Specifically, What theory of learning to you agree with most (ie. Constructivist Theory)." If any one can respond here or on my page that would be a big help. (1 paragraph will be sufficient)

It seems to embed video in Google Maps users must do so by copying code from either Google videos or Youtube. Both of these resources are filtered in our district (another challenge we are currently trying to work out). In the meantime, I am wondering if someone in this group happens to know of a way to perhaps "tweak" the code (from another source, like TeacherTube, which is not filtered) to make video clips work in Google Maps. Any suggestions, or additional information, welcome! Thanks!
