Hi everyone! I am the technology manager at Silicon Valley Education Foundation and I have some lesson plans on the science of the Olympics that may be of interest to all with the Winter Olympics less than 2 weeks away! Lesson plans are geared to grades 6-9, take about an hour to complete, and were built in conjunction with NBC Learn's videos featuring Olympic athletes. This is an open educational resource. I am a middle (and high) school science teacher. Our middle school science is an environmental science class that is in it's first year. I am also currently part of the Powerful Learning Practices (PLP) program and am starting to develop some personal learning networks. This looks like a great group of people to get involved with! I have started some 2.0 use. I have a class wiki (actually it quickly became a department wiki) and have used it as a source of class information and a place for individual and collaborative work. I know that many people are looking for ways to use/integrate the web 2.0 tools and am wondering if anyone wants to break out and actually develop a unit together. I am at a private school and can teach pretty much anything I like, but would like to be in the environmental science area. It is a seventh grade class (14 students) in Pennsylvania. We could even have two or more classes create a long term project together. I am open to any ideas and have some to bring to the table too.

@ Jennifer Parker, It won't let me reply on the discussion Forum. I used Wikispaces.com with my 8th graders last year for a project that they needed to collaborate on. It was my first time using it as well as the kids so we had some hoops to jump through. This year I am actually going to use it with my 7th graders for an Energy Debate project. It was kind of a pain to get all the permission slips from parents so they knew their kids were getting on the site but it worked. Other issue was finding computer time for those who did not have it at home.

Hi All,
I teach grade 8 Physical science which includes beginning physics and chemistry in Granby Connecticut. I have just completed a great master's degree program in education technology at UConn. Now I know that blogs and wiki's are useful and I am looking for great ideas for incorporating them into my lessons. I have just this week started my kids on creating pod casts of text readings as extra credit or alternative homework assignments.

Hi, I teach 8th grade science, a combination of Physical and Earth Sciences in New Hampshire. We have been working on a variety of projects and integrate Gooogle Docs/ Spreadsheets/ Reader, and often use wikis. I have been trying to use our Vernier sensors more and more each year too.

Hi I teach 6th grade- focus on life science, particularly the biomes of the world. We investigate the rainforest, the tundra, and the river biomes in depth
