Hi Jill. I LOVED your digital storytelling workshop. I have already downloaded Photo Story 3 and bought a headset at Wal-Mart! :) I have a question about it though. I can see my 7th graders not wanting to draw their own pictures....any other suggestions as to how they could illustrate their stories?
This will be my first year teaching CONNECT (Connecting Content with Technology) at Emporia Middle School. I am supposed to start the year off teaching the basics such as KEYBOARDING, internet safety, basics of Windows and Microsoft Office, etc.... Do you have any ideas?
Also, I am wanting to create a webpage for my class. What would you suggest is the easiest way to go about doing this? I also want to make a type of online journal on the site where each student can go onto the webpage and post thoughts, journal, etc... Is it possible to do this with ONLY allowing my students access to the blog? Sorry for all of the questions!!! I am just a newbe and I need advice! :)
My Hill City teachers are in 3rd and 4th, but now that we are in our 2nd year, we are trying to get the 5th grade teachers involved too. I'm open to doing collaborative stuff again this year...I'm sure my teachers are too.
I have had the website opened for our teachers to do exactly what you are talking about trying with your first graders. I had one teacher try to tell me it was just for teachers to network. I said why can't students network too? When you create your own community, restrictions are as tight or not tight depending on your personal feelings and choice. It can be very powerful with teachers and students collaborating and conducting projects together!
Regarding your IC issues, I have been administrating it for over 2 years now. I also have used it as a teacher along with trainning parents on the portal features. Let me know if I can help!
