About Me
I am a 2nd grade teacher in Phoenix, AZ. I never thought I would love teaching the younger ones, but I do. This is my second year teaching. I love learning about student invented math strategies including some CGI concepts. I love the workshop approach to reading and writing and am trying out Words Their Way for the first time.
I also love integrating technology. I am currently getting my masters in Educational Technology from Northern Arizona University.
Other than teaching, I enjoy listening to and TRYING to play music (guitar and bass), reading, basketball (I coached for 3 years at the high school level), and cats.....yes I said it ....CATS!

I want to hear some good ideas for the classroom...so please share!
Thanks!

    Hello Bobby

I really enjoyed watching and listening to your 2nd graders on the MLK Kid Pix presentation. Very good makes me feel nostalgic for my last class who would probably be 3rd Graders, I think. Im not too sure as I am from the UK. Any way I listened to your alter ego and he has potential too!!

    Hi Bobby

Are you interested in joining a small project using VoiceThread? Let me know and I'll explain what we're up to.

    Bobby,
So sorry it took awhile for my reply. My Mom has been visiting - and you probably know how absorbing that can be.

Congrats on winning the Technology recognition.

I was an elementary school librarian (K-5) for two years (public library before that). Maybe we can each share some ideas.

    Hey Bobby,

I'm just looking back over some of my emails - any luck getting your IT dept. onside with voicethread? We'd love to send Ted to you. He's going to Kansas at some point. If you need to email me direct, you can at p.dawson@tvdsb.on.ca.

The songs were very cool. Great idea, Bobby. I love that you pulled it together as an original holiday gift for families. That is surely a treasure for the ages.

    Bobby,
I have a book that I would love to submit to your book club. The book title is Confessions of a Technology Leader: Understanding the Job of a Site Technology Leader. Everyone in the Classroom 2.0 community is a leader if they are trying to infuse technology into the education environment. However, it is challenging and the book offers some piratical advice how to stay focus and how to build a community of users. If you are interested please drop me an email (antwonlincoln@mac.com). Or go to the web site tlconfessions.com.
I am the author of the book. If you would like me to send you a copy I would be glad to.

    Sincerely

    Antwon

I'm sure you've read The Daily 5 book, right? It is the only way to go for Reader's and Writer's workshop, especially if you have a huge difference in your reading levels. Last year, my class ranged from 0.6-6.8! I taught 3rd grade and I'm moving up with them to 4th.
  • Chris

Yes. I have taught for 33 years and spent thousands of money on books! I am a fanatic, always looking for new ideas to improve but this book really made life so much easier and (we'll see when test scores come out next month) more effective in the classroom. The hard part, sometimes, though, is that I teach so differently than everyone else. I'm definitely a lone wolf!

    OK,
I am CRAZY for the "Crazy Monkey" song! LOVE IT!
    Well done, Bobby!

Hey Bobby! Love your site. I just threw mine together for a class I am taking for my Master's In Ed. Its a multi- media class and the degree is integrating the arts into the curriculum. I am getting tons of creative ideas however our school does not really support technology integration so there is a huge divide between the world the kids live in and my classroom world!!!
    Any ideas?
What is the demographic of the school you teach? Ours is pretty heavily middle to lower, so many kids have no access at home.

Congrats Bobby for jumping into the podcasting world! I enjoyed your podcast and might be interested in a little collaboration.. Take a peek at my site and work at www.masterymaze.com. I just updated the site to add a new podcast called MasteryCast Chat which I am working on right now!--First episode will be-- What is a MasteryCast! Maybe we can chat and collaborate periodically. I teach high school and you can learn more about me in the About section of the contact page on my site. I applaud your willingness to step out and try new things. Your kids are lucky to have you. Also, my fav guitarist is Stevie Ray V! He was the best!
