Hi Mark!
thanks so much for the links. I checked the one with powerpoint but don't really get it how to make it work for me. The other is quite interesting, so I will see if I can play around with it. Nice to meet you!
Hi Mark, thanks for the links. :)
In Germany there is the difficulty that the teachers do not know enough about the tools tu use them productively in the classroom. Therefore, English-language Web 2.0 applications are more of a hindrance than an asset. We are on the whole sector at the beginning of a great era.
Greets, Mel
Thanks for your recommendations. I use Edu2. for my online courses and slide share for my power point presentation. I evaluate another options. Thanks... :-)
I just meandered through wiziq and joined as well as the site for powerpoints...thanks for the tip. Have you done Webquest? My students are doing one now...great for science.
I'm sending out messages to everyone I know right now, and this classroom20 network is no exception. (I've also sent this out on other Ning networks you may be a part of.) My name is Alyshia Olsen; I am a 20 year old college student from Olin College of Engineering. I am a part of a group of 6 Olin College students (we're in Needham,MA, and engineering students) who has taken a year off to work on an education related project. Since you are in the 'connecting content and technology' groun, I thought you might be interested! Our project is called AlightLearning, and this is our "short" project description:
Under the assumption that within ten years, the landscape of modern education will have fully integrated what we now define as new classroom media: video, online collaboration, open source curriculum and other web tools, we hope to pioneer a web software tool that acts as a platform for this new media, bringing the power of the web and its tools to students, teachers and parents in a secure, comfortable and innovative environment. Our goal is to have our free software at a pilot middle school by April 15th, 2009, continuing to develop and coordinate with our users to create a product that other schools want to pilot and use at their schools, while allowing individual teachers to implement this tool in their own classroom.
Our project, titled Alight Learning, is currently trying to win an idea competition on Ideablob.com You can find us at http://ideablob.com/3975 . We would love your support in the form of a vote within the next couple days, but more importantly we'd love your feedback and comments. Our description on Ideablob is short, and even the one above hardly gets at many of the issues we would like to take a stab at solving, but at least it's a start.
Feel free to email me back, check out alightlearning.com, anything you like!
Hi Mark - Thanks for the links. I had a quick look and see possibilities. In what context are you using either of these services? Where are you in the USA? I am about to drive from Montreal (Canada) out to Cape Cod, then down to Corpus Christi in Texas then up to Iowa - maybe you are along the way so I could stop in for a tea/beer and see what you're up to. Cheers, Bryan
Mark,
You may have me confused with someone else. If you're trying to reach Sarah, double check. Although I do appreciate your information. Thanks-Colleen
The WiZiQ site looks like it could be a great new resource for me. Thanks for sharing. I agree with your authorstream recommendation. I use the site myself and have some presentations already uploaded.
Mark, Thanks for the suggestion. I have used Authorstream to publish books that students have created using PowerPoint. WiziQ is new to me. I need to explore it some more but I can see this maybe being used to train teachers.
Thanks a lot! I was supposed to be heading out to the supermarket. But now I guess I'll be ordering pizza for dinner. Just clicked on the links. I think I will be exploring this for a little while.
Thanks for the suggestions, Mark. I have participated in many WizIQ sessions but haven't initiated any yet. I also just recently started using AuthorStream and love it! I find I prefer it over slideshare (based on the recommendation from Suzie Vesper because of the clickable links on the slides.) Always love hearing about tools people have found to be valuable (and free!) :-)
Great! Thanks so much Mark! Both these tools look amazing! Authorstream reminds me a bit of 280Slides, but better! Can't wait to learn more about them and sign up! I'm always on the lookout for easy to learn and free web based learning tools. I'm actually giving a workshop at my site on Free and Easy Web 2.0 tools....Freeazy Web 2.0 I guess you could say.... for our college instructors. I can't wait to finally land a job doing this full time!
Hi Mark - thanks for your comment! Gosh - presents already and I have only just joined - in the form of great tips!! Thanks and I will definitely look into these two gems!!! Cheers!
Hi Mark thanks for the suggestions. We currently use Study Wiz Spark as an LMS for our 26 school districts in WI. I have also showcased AuthorStream at our December Tech Leadership night- very cool tool! I appreciate your expertise with great educational sites to utilize in the classroom- keep them coming!
Are you currently on Twitter- if not I highly recommend you join. Your wonderful resources would help our virtual community- and I know in return others would share their insights as well. Here is my blog where you can find 100's of resources just like yo shared with me- Innovative Educator 2.0
