After 20 years working as a stonemason and part-time trade skills teacher, an opportunity arose to teach stonemasonry full time. I embraced the chance to both learn more about my trade, and to help others gain a qualification in this area. Social networking makes it so easy to share e-learning heutagogy with colleagues around the world.
Plurk me at skytrystsjoy and chat about vocational educational and training issues.
Hi Simon, I've had a long love affair with stone. Stone houses are rare here on the Canadian prairies but I always feel a great joy when I see one. Most of them were built in the 1880's when immigrants from Europe first arrived.
Hi!
thank you for the invitation!
I am from Argentina and very happy to meet people from places so far away!.
I know my english is awful but I really doing my best!.
See you (or better "read you")
Thanks for the invitation. I've networked with folks from Australia ever since I started using the Internet about 9 years ago. I hope we can connect around some common goals.
Hi Simon,
Thanks for inviting me too! I'm also a huge fan on the powers of social networking. I've only recently joined the Ning Classroom2.0 community.
Simon...Fortunately, in our school system we are beginning to move more and more into the Web based arena vs. dealing with client server issues that definitely have compatibility issues. After reading the book The World is Flat, I am learning that I am behind times by just beginning to think in this way.
Thanks for the tip, George. I've requested "The World is Flat" (2006 edition) from my local library.
Funny we were only just talking about compatibility. The Department blocked access to my students' Ning network today.
Thank you helping out so much with Skype. Your timing was great without even trying to be perfect. Love your ideas about "reach students unable to attend class, and to bring specialists into the class space." This opens up more ideas. I have 2 webcams - one to travel around our school and then maybe out to our community. It turns out that we have a few families who use Skype to contact their families. That tells me we have some willing specialist - I hope.
My students want to know if you will visit my blog- they want to see a red dot on Australia on the Clustr map:)AND know who it is. You have caused quit a stir!
The other classes are jealous - the news has spread. We will break out Google Earth next time for some math lessons too. It was a great week.
Hi JoNelle, keep up the good work with your class, it's so exciting to read about what you are doing.
I'd like to tell you about my classroom and its location in Brisbane (rhymes with Lisbon). It's at Eagle Farm, and you can see it if you copy and paste this link into your web browser, and then open it in Google Earth:

Hi Simon, how are you? Have you heard of YouFig.com? It's a useful site for collaboration between students and between teacher & class. It's invitation only and I still have a few invites left. Let me know if you'd like one. Looking forward to seeing you around here.
Thanks for appreciating the video. In my mathematics laboratory.students are exposed to hands on activities ustilising various strategies. I am posting activities on my class blog http://mykhmsmathclass.blogspot.com .Your ideas and suggestions are welcome.
