Just read your reply to my wikispaces forum AND am still reading your students' wiki. You have provided a wonderful example of what wikis are about! I am still laughing over the children's rules - priceless. Your wiki will reel in even the greatest skeptics. I hope you don't mind if I share this for staff development.
Thank you for the head-up about email accounts too!
Hey, John! Welcome to Classroom 2.0 Ning. Haven't heard from you since our great discussions in Philly in February. Thanks for the tag in one of your recent blog posts. (Mine suffered a little during the summer months...hopefully will be able to show some consistency during the school year!)
Your student wikis looked great. I, too, loved the student rules (especially all the references to choking!) The bio that they wrote for you was also very...insightful, too. Keep up the great work of getting kids familiar with these technologies at such a young age.
Heh, Thanks Cory, good to hear from you. The Philly conference was great - I think Chris Lehmann is planning something for this year - do you think you can make it?
I can already see the value of classroom 2.0 as a networking tool for my own professional development-got your invite and having no clue as to who or why you might be interested in being my "Friend" thought I'd check out your page. Got to your blog and found lots of things we might have in common, including experimenting with pageflakes as a homepage. Perhaps that's what your motivation was in the invite. In any case, guess I'm your friend now!
Hi John, tried to post a comment over on scratchpad but kept getting an error about not having (me) a valid email...anyway it was about both the clocks and pageflakes. I've just copied it below...
Here are a few other sites that you can get clocks at

What does "an education instance Pageflakes" mean and can anybody get a "sub-domain"? Will the random link pageflake be disabled only pageflakes in the education sub-domain? I'd like to do the same for the same reasons as you.
Hi John,
Happy New Year! Did you notice that Ole B announced the new Teacher page at http://teacher.pageflakes.com without the "random pagecast" link and with other features a teacher might find useful? I'm not sure yet how to convert an existing page to the new format but I did post a question on pageflakes in the forum area for teachers and emailed Ole separately as well.
A quick correction-the teacher version is available at pageflakes but the "random pagecast" link is still there. According to my latest interaction with Jeff and Ole they're working on that. Is that "brick wall" you ran into over the holiday still there?
Hi Professor,
I am very excited about the class and teaching Science is relatively new to me, so I am excited about everything I can take away from this course. I am very into using technology in all the lessons that I teach, but the district I am in has much need for improvement, so that is also an adjustment I have to make. Looking forward to the semester.
Thank you, Pro. Calvert. Happy Spring Festival! I went to visit my auntie for the Chinese Lunar New Year and the Wi-fi was not available for several days. But I am trying to catch up now.
I hadn't noticed that the random link on a teacher pageflake page only links to other teacher pages. It's the type of thing that we should verify with the technical people before promoting it though...(just to be sure!)
I think you are the smartboard person I have been looking for!!! I noticed on your blog that you have helped teachers use the smartboard with growing with math. that is the same math curriculum that i use......could you help with some resources. i tried to email you, but was unsuccessful. could you email me so we can touch bases? jennyatcitty@yahoo.com
