I spent 13 years teaching art in the classroom and working with kids to help them plan for the future. A few years ago I left the classroom for a chance to work at ESSDACK, an educational service center that allows me to research and develop programs that can help educators and learners. My main website is http://kevinhoneycutt.org
Hey, Kevin. It was great fun to meet you on Sat. I'm looking at your podcasts for a piece to feature on a future mashup. Stay tuned for more details! Hope you're enjoying NECC as much as I am.
Kevin, it is your buddy Dean. Hey, here is my response to your question about the using a
"Magic wand". I would use it to re-establish the education system as project based learning. This would apply to all school systems. Not just the schools willing to do this on their own. Students should be able to learn and progress at their own pace. This method would provide oppportunities for differentiated instruction and have students meet standards once they have truly mastered them. Teachers and administrators would truly understand how to integrate technology and not see it as being evil or an item on its own. As many of us already know and preach, today's students are wired differently than students were over the last several decades. I truly believe in the fact students would be more motivated and engaged in their education if we, as educators, were to accept this and look how to improve education to the point we address the variety of learning styles and paces that currently exist in schools today.
I chatted Ben for a sec yesterday about global "chillin." I'd like to post an invite to participate on Rock It, and actually got a post started but have been interrupted THREE times when trying to finish it. :)
...this could be SO easy and SO cool (and SO helpful for developing skills) for SO many students who just cannot find their school engaging...
Hi, Kevin! Thanks for the welcome. Did you get the chance to attend the National Educational Computing Conference in Georgia this year? If so, did you pick up anything new?
Kevin;
I am interested in finding out more about the Second Life program that you were discussing with us during our visit. Please let me know any info when you get it. Thanks, Todd
Hey Kevin - thanks for the comment! I found out about your Driving Questions podcast by reading something on Ginger's site. I've watched to your last three episodes and was very impressed and motivated by a few things you said (especially the bit where you said that we've ALL got something to contribute). So, thanks for that.
Fun summer.... lots of things getting in place for the next year. Additional laptop carts, SmartBoards, CPS systems, United Streaming and much more. Now I just need time to train the teaches. Hope to see you when I am at ESSDACK!
Just thought I'd give you a quick hello! Thanks again for allowing me to work under you in June for a week! I definitely learned a great deal! I'm getting more and more excited about the upcoming school year and all the possibilities with integrating technology!
Thanks Kevin, it was great seeing your facility down there, it is quite an impressive environment. I'm a little disgusted you made it to Colby but didn't make extra 30 minutes West to drop in for a chat 8^)

Kevin,
Thank you for your very inspiring presentations! I am excited about the many, varied possibilities for learning with my students this year. Cathy
Thank you! I like to be decorative! :)
Yes, Classroom 2.0 will be beneficial! I have already been passing on the word to teachers who have not heard of it! Great resource!
Kevin, Thanks for the suggestion that I join Classroom 2.0. From what I've seen so far, I've found a community of similar thinking learners. It was a joy for me to work with you this past week.
Thanks for all the wonderful tips you gave at the MACE MTI conference a few weeks ago....I've shared with other teachers the awsome information.....Thanks!
HELP! =) I found your awesome Podcast created through PodOmatic. I added it to my web 2.0 page and then created one for my 1st graders. I was able to add the cast to my page. We created a new cast at the end of our first week and I cannot make it go onto my player that is already loaded on my 2.0 page....I noticed that yours automatically updated on my computer when you added a new one....What do I need to do??
I am not sure what I did, but it showed up on there this morning. Maybe it just takes time to post? Right now my "lunch" is pretty sketchy. I may get one and I may not or I might get lucky and get 5-10 minutes. You know how crazy things are at the beginning of the year!
Thanks for the information about this site. You told me about it at the ESSDACK Wichita conference at the beginning of the Summer. I was with Tracey. You told me to add you, so I did!
You have had the great fortune of being tagged in a meme exercise. Tim Holt has tagged you from his blog entry at: Byte Speed
http://web.mac.com/timholt/iWeb/Byte%20Speed/Tim%27s%20Blog/CDE6B5A5-D739-49C9-8E49-41B5240EF2B9.html
The rules are simple. Write a blog entry on the subject “Eight Things You Don’t Know About Me.”
1) Post these rules before you give your facts.
2) List 8 random facts about yourself.
3) At the end of your post, choose (tag) 8 people and list their names, linking to them.
4) Leave a comment on their blog, letting them know they’ve been tagged.
Then Tag eight of your blog friends.
I think that these used to be called chain letters. Now they are called meme exercises. Funny how technology changes things!
Anyway, you can read my “Eight” at the above address, and get the full rules as well.
Enjoy! I’ve shown you mine, now you show me yours!
Thanks for accepting my friend list. I just logged on to the art snacks you list on your page. Waiting to hear back to see how I can use it with my Computer Graphics entering students. Thanks!!!

Kevin,
I just love looking around at "your place." Everything is so interesting and thoughtful here. That dog picture you've got on as "yourself" (!) now is one of the best dog pictures I've ever seen. Looking right into that canine's eyes, seeing into the realm of its experiences. It has a psychic depth, that sort of "still waters run deep" feeling.
Oh--now that I've got you "on the line"--a question: have you come across a microphone that is sensitive enough to pick up group discussions?
Connie,
Thanks for the nice words. The dog is my puppy Starbuck and he is a deep soul. I use the blue snowball mic for roundtable discussions. http://www.macobserver.com/review/2007/01/16.1.shtml
It seems to hover around 100 bucks.
Hey, you found me! And thank you for the conversation. I shared the highlights with others and have been doing quite a bit of thinking on all things Web 2.0. I haven't done anything with my Ning space yet but maybe...someday.
Hi Kevin,
I checked out your website as well as your work website. I think you have a very important job in bringing awareness and solutions to problems that are developing along with the web. Your motivation is inspiring!
Hi Kevin, Your latest blog post sounds really inspiring. I hope that I am able to inpsire and see big gains in the schools I am working with. I think there is a lot of good stuff happening at the moment and the ability to share so easily these days can only just make this journey even greater.
Hey Kevin, it was really good to meet you and network at EduBlogger Con and NECC Unplugged. I learned so much from you and the many other bloggers there. I captured a lot of the learning on my Diigo list:http://www.diigo.com/list/jcostilla/wat_necc
Kevin, just checked out your website and the ning site. I am so impressed with what you are doing! I want to utilize ning this year in my classroom. How did you embed all those widgets, etc. on ning? I can't seem to get it to work. Is there a tutorial for setting it up?
Congratulations on your outstanding blog Kevin. My students in Melbourne, Australia are going to love the drawing lessons. Thanks so much for sharing your enormous talents.Yvonne Osborn www.tlpsart.edublogs.org
Hey, Kevin. It has been a while since I visited this site. I am really bummed because plurk was recently blocked at my school. I have sent a request for them to release it, but I feel like I I am committing a crime but wanting a blocked website. What....is it wrong to share, collaborate and have an opinion?!
Checked out your excellent web site Kevin. Noticed your links on bullying and lessons that engage and thought you might be interested in character education learning activities and links on my profile page that also integrate popular music.
