Hi Adina, Thanks for stoping by my page, Vista and SL .. interesting question .. Even if Linden Lab tells you that Vista is not supported ... the real issue of contention is which video card and video card drivers are installed in your system. Second Life requires that the video card supports the OpenGL standard. For example Nvidia does. ATI does not.
The NVIDIA® GeForce® 8400M GT GPU video controller works quite well. Take a look at the specs for your laptop and you may be able to install the SL client and go for a spin ...
This is an update to your last question. I now know at least 2 people running the SL client on Vista without any problems. One of them has an ATI video card... :-). One thing about Linden Lab, their support organization is not that great. They depend too much on their user community .. and some things fall thru the cracks ... You are going to have to try it .:-)
hi Adina! you are SO LUCKY to be living in California; I lived in Berkeley for years (wonderful), then in Oklahoma for years (not so wonderful...), and now I am in beautiful North Carolina (wonderful again! yeah!!!)
I am embarasses I haven't played with that wiki in months. Thank you for the kind words and the valuable input. I will need it when I get back to that project.
Hello Adina -best regards from Bavaria/Germany!

Would you like to join my group Digiskills on Classroom 2.0?
Glad you liked the meeze-yours turned out great. Really enjoyed reading your blog. Now I want to spend more time figuring out widgets. At some point I need to take time to plan how I will integrate all of these new tools this year. (Do you have a planning widget?) Thanks also for pointing me toward the Professional Development group.
I enjoyed reading your Blog and quickly glancing over your Meez page. The point you made in your blog about how reading fluency really increased when video was accompanied by text really surprised me. But it makes good sense. I've only joined Ninq & Classroom 2.0 just the other day so I have a lot to explore. I think I'm a little behind the web 2.0 eight ball so I'm hoping to get up to speed a little here before Sept. There's just SO Much, ya know?
Adina, It is good to find another blogging educator here in San Marcos. I moved here about a year ago from Lake Tahoe. Love it.
I agree with your sentiment that we can find a community online that will charge us with ideas.
It's so much easier to brainstorm with people who get it!
Finding energized and hopeful Teachers is like looking for gold... they are where you find them. From what I can see, Classroom 2.0 has great energy. 8)
saw that you picked up the book, Confessions of a Technology Leader. I hope that it was helpful. You may want to check out the podcast to the new edition of the book (www.tlconfessions.com).
I saw that there was a technology leader group in the Classroom 2.0 and thought I should join.
Adina,
Read your last post on the introductions page and it sounds like you are doing things very similar to what I am doing here in North Carolina. I moved here from Silicon Valley (Mountain View) where I was tech director of a private school. I am now here rockin' the boat and am always on the look for other who really try and make change.
I am working on an ethography about CR20 for a grad class, but I don't know my way around the site very well. Some of the topics that I need to address are rules and mores that govern behavior and how decisions are made on CR20. Any help that you could provide on these issues would be very much appreciated.
Yea you may very well be right, in saying that though it is the last day of term so looking forward to the term break. Tell me what is the main benefits of belonging to a network like this???
Have a nice day

Hi Adina. I was wondering if you have any high school contacts who would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
