    Hi Sarah!

Happy New Year! I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from California!

    Hi Sarah,

If you're interested in Technology integration, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

Here's my deal: Something has to change in my teaching style. I cannot keep up the pace of paperwork, drill and kill teaching, and a constant feeling that there is a much better way to get students motivated. I spend thousands of hours reworking things, surfing the internet, downloading, creating and it just isn't paying off the way I want it to. Besides, I am drowning in paper. So, listening to the presentation was the first step in my attempt to change.

I am not afraid of technology, but my hesitation is that it will become yet another thing that will add to the overall disfunction of my teaching. What I really want it to do is to simplify and pinpoint very specific teaching goals. At the same time, I want it to eliminate all the busy work and a good intention assignments that never pan out they way I had envisioned. That is my goal. Ultimately, I want the students to walk away feeling like the time they spent in my room has enriched their school experience, not a feeling of, "Well, that was interesting, but it means nothing to me."
