About Me
This is my 8th year teaching at Yew Chung International School of Beijing. The first five years I taught Year 5/Grade 4 and then moved to Year 4/Grade 3 using the National Curriculum of Great Britain.

After being introduced to the world of Web 2.0 five years ago I decided to pursue my Masters in Integrated Technology graduating from Walden University in December 2010. I want to use all of my knowledge to encourage students and teachers to become travellers in this amazing world.

I am passionate about Global Collaboration and bringing iPads into the classroom for authentic learning.

Hello Heather. It must be exciting to be in Beijing at the moment. Are things hyping up with the games. My two sons, who work in London are going to the games.I am going to Shanghai for a Learn2.0 conference in Sept and hope to meet some people who might collaborate on projects for our school. Our students learn mandarin at school as their language other than English. I am from Australia

Hey, that is great that you will be at Shanghai and yes, I would love to keep in touch. Another teacher from my school, Jess will be there as well.

Hello Heather, yes I am getting excited about the conference. First I go to Nanjing no 1 school to help there for a few days as we have a group of students from our state staying there for 6 weeks. I havent done second life before, but I know I should get involved. Always fearful that I will get lost!! When do we enrol for sessions? Do you know? Or do we all just attend the same sessions?

Hi Heather -- I'd like to invite you to join a Classroom 2.0 group called Canadians Mashup. I'm trying to build a network of Canadian educators and bloggers. No discussions yet. I'm just starting out by trying to find where everyone lives and what they teach. If you're interested, please add me as a colleague as well.

If you add yourself to the map, please include a name or a photo of some sort. There seem to be a lot of unidentified people from unidentified places and the map is getting stuck on for some reason. The problem is that I can't tell from the members’ list which anonymous hits are real people and which were just false starts. The company does not differentiate members unless there is a picture or a name. Location only is not enough to help me know which entries are not real ones. THANKS!!!!

It sounds like we have a lot in common -- I'm starting my Masters in Instructional Media in the new year and have been 'doing technology' for about 16 months.

    Hi Heather,

With your srong interest in Web 2.0 Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
