    Susan,
I am very interested in discussing with you about your iPod touch program. Could you start a discussion page about your program so others can collaborate together and learn from your program?

Acceptable Use Policy - thewy paper they sign to say they know the rules. We too are exploring iPods & touches. We have a 1:1 classroom and a program we call iRead (http://podcast.eusd4kids.org/groups/iread/) where K-8 students/teachers use iPods, GarageBand and Keynote to focus on Reading comprehension skills. The 1:1 is looking at sending iPods home, but we need to develop an AUP for that.

BTW, thanks for this thread - great info...

Susan - I stumbled upon the ability to change the color when I was in the process of setting up my page. An option popped up to personalize the color and i did.

Hi Susan! Thanks so much for talking with us today about your itouch program. We are hoping to take a road trip sometime soon! The photos here really help me visualize your carts...and I've enjoyed reading through your recommendations. All the info you have shared is such a big help!!

We have a 5th grade classroom of 26 students. One-to-one now with a newly acquired grant - we also have 15 at each elementary building being used in a tutoring after-school program for at-risk students (we have six buildings). We're just starting and we're incorporating Studywiz with teacher created materials rather than just the apps we've found. I think this site will be very beneficial for us. So many people asking the same questions we had/have.

We developed a program that allows students to create a "Spirit" Application on the iPod Touch. Here is one place it is currently in use http://ags411.org (click on the brain and then the 11th grade)

    Thanks

Let me know if you wanted to try the SDK application at your school ( Free).
You heard about our program from Apple? May I ask who you heard this from at Apple?

    Thanks
    George

    Hi Susan,

With your work in Education Technology and Online Learning, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.

Hello everyone. I have been using an Ipod Touch for a little over 6 months now and would like to hear from those of you who are using them in your classes what impacts it has had for student learning? What apps do you find most useful? I am doing some research for a presentation on Portable Devices in the classroom and would love to hear about other people's experiences.

Any perspectives you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to you Susan for starting this forum and everyone in advance for providing feedback.

You can also follow me @leewin if you are a fello tweep like myself.

    Cheers!

    Susan,
I will let you know in the next few days if I can make the October 8th event. I am trying to rearrange my schedule. Thanks again. I will be in touch very soon.

Thank you for writing back, Susan. I began writing a reply only to find out that there's a character limit on Classroom 2.0 messages. Can I have your email address to continue the discussion?

Long story short, my publishing company is taking a serious look at developing curriculum specifically for mobile devices such as the iPod touch. I know your program has had considerable success with some of the apps and materials already available, but I would like to know what an educator might want to see in mobile curriculum that has yet to be developed. It's not as simple as just asking a variety of teachers what they'd want to see, because many simply don't know what is possible. Culbreth Middle is clearly on the leading edge as far as implementing mobile technology into the classroom, so I feel like you would be in a unique position to provide the kind of input that I'm looking for.

I will continue to follow your discussion thread on iPod implementation intently, as it has already been a wonderful resource. I look forward to discussing this with you in greater detail. My email address is msheehy@learningsourceltd.com. Thanks for your time!
