Hello Maggie. I am a general music teacher in Memphis, TN, and new to Classroom 2.0. I found your page while browsing the members area and wanted to invite you to participate in an online classroom/cultural exchange - your students and my students communicating with each other, sharing their work and developing a global relationship (for lack of a better term). Please let me know if you would like to try this. It has proven to be a successful way for my students to develop their communication skills and strengthen their appreciation for other cultures - nationally and internationally. I have a Voicethread posted on my page if you want to have a look - this would be an easy way for our students to communicate. You can also check out my students' projects on our music web page at http://web.me.com/knrgreene/RMSMusicMediaNetwork/Welcome.html. Hope to hear from you!

Hi Maggie. I just posted a vociethread project that features my 8th and 6th grade general music students. Take a look when you get a chance and, if you're interested, have your students add their comments - text, audio, or video. Voicethread is extremely easy to use and facilitates conversations across distances and time zones! This link will take you to our "Hello, world!" project: http://voicethread.com/#u406170.b674819.i3567443
This link will take you to Voicethread's tutorial video: http://voicethread.com/#u406170.b409.i848804
Hope to hear from you. Ken

Thanks for the getting back to me, Maggie! My students are going to love reading your comment. I am anxious to learn more about the alpine horn. Sounds like this could be a terrific cultural exchange/lesson opportunity. I'll have my students research Switzerland and browse the ISZL site to learn more about your students and your country. Be in touch soon. Best Regards. Ken

Wow! Thanks, Maggie. My students and I really enjoyed the photo. They were surprised to learn that you took the photo while out for a walk. We researched the horn online and found some great videos of alpine horn performances. Many of my students want me to buy an alpine horn for the class! I'm not sure I would have room to store it :)

I visited the ISZL web site last week. You work on a beautiful campus. Do you think your students would be interested in a Voicethread project? I could post a new voicethread or maybe you could have your students add comments - audio, video, or just text - to this greeting voicethread we posted recently: http://voicethread.com/#u406170.b674819.i3567443

Let me know if you're interested. And thank you so much for the photo and your voicethread post. Ken
