About Me
Greetings community! I am a district technology coordinator for a San Diego County school district. I am passion about the use of technology and more passion about leadership. I am the author of the book Confessions of a Technology Leader: Understanding the Job of a Site Technology Leader and the host of podcast under the same title (iTunes).
My chief aim is to be an asset to the education community, as well as learn from other assets in the community. To do that, I have to build my network...so send me an invitation to be your Classroom 2.0 colleague!

    Hi Antwon
I picked up your book at the CUE conference last year and really found it helpful. Glad you have joined the community here. Welcome!

    Hi Antwon,

I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

I heard you during the New Year's Show earlier today and you commented on the buy in of District administrations. Being on that side of the fence, I understand your concerns. It is always a challenge to sway the political machine. It is even harder to sell the IT Group responsible for supporting the technology.

If you want the best results for your technology plans, getting the IT Group is way to go.

Hi Antwon, I would love to read your book and discuss it with others here on classroom20 and beyond.
  • Melissa

    Antwon,
Your book sounds fascinating and I'd love to read a copy!

    Antwon,
I was just having a conversation about your book with Melissa who commented below. I would love to read and discuss it. It is great to have you on CR 2.0 and your discussions are always great.

Thanks, Antwon, for the encouragement. Hopefully I will be able to encourage others and be a help to others soon. Cheers!

Hi Antwon. Thanks for making the connection. I'm interested in reading your book and have subscribed to your podcast.
I'm in the unusual position of being the district tech leader as an IT professional (my background) but also having some background in learning and now completing my M.Ed. I truly feel I live on both sides, and most times on top, of the proverbial IT/Teacher fence.
You can check out my post Teachers talking to IT, and IT talking to teachers where I'd love additional input to make it a useful tool.
Also, can you announce when your website will be complete - there's a few links that I'm sure will include more useful material.

Thank you very much Antwon. Presentations in Northeast, primarily in New York but hopefully will expand over time.

Will keep you updated on our progress.

Thanks for the compliment regarding my video! I just shared it with my district last week, so we're not quite to the point of using the Wiimote whiteboard district-wide. I'd like to see that eventually. For now, I've had at least a few educators (throughout the district) who are going to use it. I plan on working specifically with a couple of them to pilot the whiteboard.

Feel free to contact me at egolfer6@yahoo.com. We can talk more about implementing the Wiimote whiteboards in classrooms.

I look forward to following your work more closely... great stuff...

Antwon, I just added a group that I think you might be interested in, “Educational Technologists.” http://www.classroom20.com/group/instructionaltechnologists I am hoping this group can grow and we will be able to support each other and collaborate so that we can better support our colleagues.

Do you have any grade 3-5 Title 1 classrooms? There are a few spots remaining in a grant program for schools to use In2Books, a supplemental reading project that pairs students with adult pen pals.
Check out the articles in The Reading Teacher and Phi Delta Kappan about it. Or read more at: in2books.epals.com.
