I am a split 3-4 teacher on the Magdalen Islands, Quebec. I am looking for any great ideas to use in my classroom. I am also looking for another gr. 3 or 4 class that can be skype buddies with us.
Hi, Dorothy, it's terrific that you have such "global sense" and are trying to impart that to your students at such a young age!
If you wanted to have collaborators from many other countries, try joining the ePals Global Community. www.epals.com It's free to join, and it's free to use the SchoolMail (teacher monitored) and Forums (monitored by ePals staff). We have lots of different "mascot exchanges" across the world with different classes. Students and teachers in 200 countries participate.
Also, you might want to look under the "focus area" called "Storytelling" to see some student work in telling stories, retelling clasic myths, rewriting fairy tales, or viewing original student digital stories. It's another fascinating way to "travel the world" from the comfort of your internet browser!
If you have time before the school year ends, your students could create a digital story and share it with other students across the globe too.
We only have a few weeks left of school, we finish up around mid December, but if Quackers can make it here in time to spend a couple of weeks we'd be happy to have him.
As our school years run from Feb to Dec, Quackers would be able to join in with the end of year activities. Ket me know if he can make a flight by then :)

It's great to find more Canucks in here in CR 2.0. You might want to join a group called "Canadians Mashup". If you join, please use the Welcome forum at http://www.classroom20.com/group/canadianmashup/forum/topics/welcom... to introduce yourself, and then add me as a Colleague.
The summer before my first teaching year (1974) I visited the Magdalen Islands. What a beautiful place!
