I am a strong supporter of using technology in the classrooms to facilitate learning and making lessons interesting for the students.
That is why I have recently launched a vocabulary building website:
http:/VocabAhead.com
This website has a collection of short, simple and fun video clips with pictures, illustrations or animations and an audio narration to correctly pronounce, define, and provide examples of words in context. The website is a great learning and teaching tool equally benefitting both students and teachers. My goal was to create something which can aid students in improving their vocabulary and at the same time help teachers in developing new and interesting ways to use in classrooms for teaching new words.
With your interest in Education Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
I just found the message that you left me on classroom 2.0. Please check to see if you can log in, and let me know. Sorry for the long delay. We will start posting a material for the start of the school year some about the middle of August. Hope all is well.
By the way, we are starting to do some really cool things with cell phones in the classroom. The kids feel really comfortable in that environment, and focus more on the storytelling than the technology.
