That's great, Ingrid! I will prepare a vociethread for our students and send it to you to get your approval.
In the meantime... I have a group of students preparing for a special performance at a restaurant in our downtown arts district on Sunday, November 1st. The students will be performing spoken word pieces, poetry, original music, and showcasing their visual art. The theme for their written work is "What does music mean to you?". They were given a lot of freedom to choose how they wanted to express themselves. The results have been incredibly positive! I have already seen a difference in their attitudes - they are excited and confident! I expect to have the local media there to cover the event.
Perhaps there is an opportunity here to include your students' work in this event on November 1st. I will have a projector running throughout the event showing our classroom videos and images. If your students have similar work they would be interested in sharing with us, I would be delighted to feature it. There is also the possibility of a live video conference during the event to introduce the students and their work to the audience. This could be done very easily with Google video chat (time zone permitting).
I realize this is a lot to think about, but it is exciting to think of the possibilities for our students. Please consider the offer and let me know how you would like to give it a try. I look forward to hearing your response.
Hi Ingrid. I just posted a vociethread project that features my 8th and 6th grade general music students. Take a look when you get a chance and, if you're interested, have your students add their comments - text, audio, or video. Voicethread is extremely easy to use and facilitates conversations across distances and time zones! This link will take you to our "Hello, world!" project: http://voicethread.com/#u406170.b674819.i3567443

Hope to hear from you. Ken
