I live in Melbourne, Australia and am Head of Library at Toorak College. I write a blog called Lucacept - intercepting the Web. I am interested in the formation of learning communities using Web 2.0 tools. I've been involved in the International cohort of Powerful Learning Practice and have been the recipient of the John Ward Award for outstanding Teacher-Librarian in the State of Victoria (2009). I am part of a reference group informing the Australian Council of Educational Research (ACER) as they set up the Digital Education Research Network (DERN).
Welcome to this group Jenny. I'm sure we have a lot to learn from your expertise. I imagine it's not going to be much of a holiday for you - even less than for the other attendees by the sound of it. I'm looking forward to what might spring from this a professional online network group from so many of our schools.
Jenny-
Are you coming back to the States for ISTE? I hope so! Since we got a cheesesteak in Philly we will have to find some traditional Rocky Mountain fare.
I have just decided to require 'attending a webinar of one's choice' during my emerging technology class. Maybe my web 2.0 class too. I think the fact that you can attend a presentation on a topic of your choice w/o leaving your office/home/whatever is something every grad student needs to take advantage of. Your webinar reminded me to add the things I personally do to my classes! Seems so obvious -- yet I don't always do so.
