I coordinate the technology initiatives for a state-wide STEM educator professional development program based out of the Center for Science and Mathematics Education at UT Austin. We have a growing Ning site for Texas STEM educators.
Hi Keith, It looks like you have a great grasp of visualization and how this can help build networks of understanding and collaboration. I love the image you've posted.
I lead a small non profit in Chicago and use concept maps to visualize a comprehensive strategy, with many leaders, aimed at helping any kid who starts school today be graduating high school in 12 years and starting a job/career, by age 25. You can view this at http://cmapspublic.ihmc.us/servlet/SBReadResourceServlet?rid=1178301962705_378512451_14531&partName=htmltext.
I use real maps to help people see the places where this type of help is most needed, based on poverty concentrations, and to also show who could be doing more to help, based on having locations near or in these areas. See the maps at http://mappingforjustice.blogspot.com
I also host a ning page at http://tutormentorconnection.ning.com and participate here and in other forums to share ideas, build networks, and find partners to help do this work.
I hope you'll find what I do interesting and will use some of the ideas in your own networks and collaborations and that this will give us help to do our own work from Chicago.
