I teach grades 9 - 11 Essentials and Principles math in a setting that promotes self paced learning. Our students are recommended to the 'Essentials Resource Centre' for math if they're having difficulty with skills and concepts, having trouble keeping up with the pace of the class, or if they're too easily distracted or distracting in a traditional classroom setting.
Hi Laura, my welcome from Germany! My focus is on using Web 2.0 apps in the classroom. Feel free to check some of my sites. And I would love if you decide to join my group Digiskills with now 378 members on CR 2.0 - it is about digital teaching methods.

Hi Laura-- I'd like to invite you to join a Classroom 2.0 group called Canadians Mashup. I'm trying to build a network of Canadian educators and bloggers who are interested in sharing and connecting.
3 steps:
(1) Navigate to the Sue Hellman page. Part way down on the left is a Canadian map under My Groups. If you click on that and then look beneath the main banner (right of center) on the group page, you should see + Join this Group. Click and you’ll be in.
(2) Invite me to be a colleague please.
(3) If you add yourself to the map, please include a name or a photo of some sort. 'Anonymous' cannot be distinguished from ‘Unknown Location’ when I try to clean up the false starts. THANKS!!!!
I think we may have a lot in common. I teach math & science in whole school (Learning Centre) in the Lower Mainland dedicated to at risk students.
Welcome to Canadians Mashup, Laura, but I don't see the banner on your group list so I think you have another step to do when you have time:
Click on Sue Hellman above this message to navigate to my page. Part way down on the left is a Canadian map under My Groups. If you click on that and then look beneath the main banner (right of center) on the group page, you should see + Join this Group. Click and that should do it.
I'm sorry for the delayed response, but have had a stack of new science units to write and so am catching up on my greetings today.
