About Me
I work as a freelance Education Consultant in Primary Education as well as hosting dynamic open source web sites. I have worked as a Teacher , LEA Adviser, Trainer, and PNS/ Literacy Consultant/Co-ordinator for an LEA over 19 year period. I am as happy training and working alongside education professionals as I am teaching or running after school clubs. I am interested in the role ICT plays in animating the curriculum: so that children experience learning as creative and fun and can develop awareness of diverse cultures and human rights via the net. Secondly I tend get intrigued by the technical side. I learn episodically, by trial and error under the online guidance of patient professional web developers across the world, how to install PHP/MSQL open source approaches to content management, web development, blogging, moblogging, vlogging, RSS, podcasting and audioblogging etc. I constantly seek the optimum combination of functionality and visual aesthetics!
I brought the two side together running a web club in a primary school over a year trying out various approaches with children which was great fun. I also played a little with flash and have used it to present childrens' work and their self assessment. Some of my work e.g. the podcast network with automated online flash based jukeboxes experiment can be seen on my web site. Its experimental and evolving , I work on it when I get time or a new idea!
