Hi Bruce. Thanks for accepting my invitation. I have used moodle for the last few years as it is the platform currently used by the Australian Flexible Learning Framework, to run the Networks associated. You can find the networks - open to all interested on the main page for the AFLF at www.flexiblelearning.net.au
I find moodle easy to use, practical and has always been a great way of connecting with others.
I have found however, that if you have the time and are willing to leap into other worlds, that environments such as ning, offer many other possibilities/functions/features, that I feel have enhanced my learning. Moodle or the Networks within the AFLF, are now a support for me and not my primary vehicle.
For teaching/learning purposes within insutitutional walls in Australia still allows me and others, to use moodle for students, via edna groups, however we are blocked from accessing any of the other social networking tools - for me being in the business services centre, working in marketing, advertising and international business, it is frustrating not to be able to work with learners in their worlds and the worlds being adopted by businesses globally, whilst on campus - only option is to integrate the blocked tools into learning by asking students to engage when away from the institution - makes one wonder how long institutions as we see them now will last.

Looking forward to working, sharing and learning with you and all in the network.
