About Me
I'm Susan Geiger, and I've been a high school librarian in Hayward California for (yikes!) 25 years. During that time we have moved from Apple IIe's to becoming a laptop school next year. I also partner with Dave Hoffman editor of MultiMedia & Internet@Schools to organize and moderate the Internet@Schools conferences put on by Information Today.
When I'm not in the library I can often be found on the water.

Thanks for the response, Susan. I took a look and understand your concern now. Unfortunately, we can't control the additional videos that show up there because it is all controlled by YouTube. If the kids follow the instructions in tagging the videos correctly, then there is a better chance the 'junk' videos won't appear, but I can't say that is a guarantee. Still, I hope you guys consider participating. Anyone who uses the internet is a) used to having to deal with 'junk' and b) has learned to screen it instinctively. Please let me know your decision. We'd be thrilled to have your kids involved.

Hey Susan. That is a good point. We have been encouraging the use of Schooltube for those school districts which restrict access to YouTube. Basically, we just want students and teachers to do whatever works most easily for them (hence we allow Youtube since everyone knows it). We have considered going with Schooltube only, but we are passing on that for a few reasons (search engine is not quite up to par yet, we already have lots of submissions on Youtube, etc). Anyways, I hope our allowing Youtube is not too much of a deterent for your colleagues. If any of them would like to speak with me directly, I can be reached at admin@brainyflix.com.

    Hey Susan,

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. More details at brainyflix.com/main/contest_rules.

We'd love to have your kids involved. Do you mind passing my message along to students and your HS colleagues again?

    Thanks,
    Jack
