I learned Spanish in Mexico and returned to the U.S. with my daughter 23 years ago; continued my education, receiving a B.A. in Spanish from CSU, Chico in 1999 and a Single Subject Teaching Credential with a BCLAD emphasis in 2000. After teaching high school Spanish for three years, I began teaching community college Spanish for Columbia College in Sonora, CA and six years later I'm teaching hybrid Spanish classes and about to get started on developing a totally online Spanish class in the fall.
I live in the woods and love the solitude. Having to drive an hour to the college is mitigated by the lovely foothill landscape.
I read constantly and enjoy a variety of music and good films. I play guitar bilingually and work on writing fiction monolingually.
I am excited about the possibilities offered by new technologies for teaching and I'm particularly intrigued, though a bit wary of for some inexplicable reason, by the whole virtual-world teaching thing.
