Liven up eLearning course to engage learners with funny quiz

Originated from: E-Learning Zone: Liven up eLearning course to engage learners with funny quiz

Making good eLearning courses is a developing art. As a trainer, your goal is to make the training memorable. As you design the course, you must design not only the "what" (or content), but also the "how" (the delivery mechanisms). Integrating funny quiz (like "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire") into…

Professional Development Meme 2009

This meme is circulating around the edublogosphere and I thought it was very motivating. I first heard about it on Twitter, and then again from LoonyHiker at Successful Teaching and Clif Mims at ClifNotes. I wasn't tagged -- but they say anyone can participate! I invite all my readers to do so. (Are there any readers? LOL)

Sonoma Charter School

I just returned from a reunion of the original founding members of the Sonoma Charter School in Sonoma California of which I am proud to say, I am one of. The Sonoma Charter School was the 9th charter to be granted in California where there are now over 1100 Charter schools. This was a grass roots organization started by a handful of concerned parents more than 16 years ago. In those early charter days, we battled the district, the state and the California Teachers Association for the right to… Continue

Excited but overwhelmed...

A little over a month ago I started to use Twitter. I kept hearing Ellen DeGeneres talking about it - so I thought I would try it out. Being a "Facebooker" I didn't quite understand how Twitter worked. I certainly never thought I would like it better than FB - but boy was I wrong!

Since my tweeting has begun, I have started following teachers and teacher educators that have enlightened me as to how I can use technologies that I've used as a grad student (webinars, distance learning,… Continue

What do you think about pre-bundling video clips for lesson plans?

I grab YouTube clips that effectively communicate multi-step tasks to moderate to severely involved students on the Spectrum. I find that using sequential clips engages students quickly, more effectively and for longer periods of time.

I would like to collaborate with people who think this could prove valuable and would like to explore the potential.

Video modeling clips

For the past 2 years, I have used the computer to successfully engage nearly 200 language-impaired students on the Spectrum in activities that promote metacognition, language and communication. I believe the computer is an under-utilized tool that can be of immediate benefit to any classroom without regard to academic, social, intellectual or communication skills.

I Created A Skype Chat Message Translator That Translates in 43 Different Languages in Real-Time and Speaks 10 of them

This is a FREE program, it can be used to learn how to read, write, and speak languages as well as communicate with others and NOT know their language.

My goals are to help people meet others worldwide, and remove some of the language barriers that have been in place, in the past.

Hopefully, both teachers and students will make attempts to make friends in far away places, learn about cultures and share their experiences, maybe even try to learn new languages, at their own… Continue
