The Filtered Network!

Well, I am still trying to incorporate educational technology into my students' every day lives; however, we are running into trouble with gaining access to the available technology in our labs due to filters put in place by our tech team. VERY FRUSTRATING!! I know the filters are put in place to keep spam and other non-educational material out of our students' reach, but we cannot access the sites we need. My classes were even blocked from online interviews with lawyers, physicians, and… Continue

"The Networked Student"

After viewing "The Networked Student" again, I have to admit that I have scruples about my students being the self-starters they need to be in order to be successful as a networked student. After reading, if the student wanted to keep the book to read more, they didn't have to pass the book back to the next student, but if they wanted to check out more books, they passed their book back and got another book from the student… Continue

Reviewing, Reviewing, Reviewing!

Since January, all 10th grade teachers as well as 11th and 12th grade core teachers have been reviewing out the wazoo! The funny thing is--we all love it, and want to see our kids pass the grad exam the first time! This week in particular, we are all stressed and ready to move forward.

In my 9th grade English class, we are writing expository essays with my students fighting tooth and nail to weed out slang, numbers for letters, symbols, and what else, text messaging lingo! We peer… Continue
