Value of Connecting with Others
I think it's always helpful to share resources and learn from other teachers. A social network of educators is likely to bring a wealth of information from teachers all over the world and can provide ideas of how to incorporate new technologies into your similar teaching environment. I have intentionally decided not to use social networking systems prior to this class. I haven't found them to be very user friendly and they are time consuming. Searching through many sites and wordy discussions isn't practical to me since the enemy to most teachers is time. Recently, I signed up to a group pursuing the same Natl Board certification as I am working on. New questions and notifications are sent to my email address daily. While I try to read them to see if a similar question I have is being answered, the posts are long and don't allow me to collapse threads that aren't of interest. Instead of saving time and being helpful, they are just too wordy and lengthy to prove useful to me.
