I am a language teacher and writing tutor with over eight years of diverse experience. I believe strongly in the power of words to communicate our message, both spoken and written, and the importance of mastering a second language as a way to open both our minds and the opportunities available to us. I also believe that education needs to evolve along with society. As professionals, we must continue to ask if our educational model meets the needs of students of the 21st century, and be willing to leave behind practices and methods that no longer serve us. We should look for ways to integrate critical thinking, collaboration, problem solving, creativity and technology into our classrooms, both physical and virtual.
My professional experience includes working as a high-school Spanish teacher in under-served communities in New York City, teaching university-level extra-curricular English classes in Japan, teaching conversational and professional English to students in Russia via Skype, and my current job teaching university English language and English content courses (online, blended and face-to-face) in Guadalajara, Mexico
