Greetings! Originally from Sri Lanka, I arrived in the US in March, 1987 to pursue my undergraduate degree in Business / Minor in Computer Science. Prior to arriving in the US, I was a Computer Systems Analyst/Programmer (COBOL, BASIC, RPG II - I might be dating myself here!). I received my BS in Business /minor Computer Science / MS - International Business/Economics from Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon.
I have always loved technology - specially applying technology to my professional work. During my college days, I got involved in event / conference planning - thus my current career path. Yes, I am the kinda guy with a cellphone and a Blackberry (well, mine is a Samsung Blackjack – like it much better than a Blackberry!) on my belt clip and using PC tablet at meetings!
Upon graduating from SOU, I worked at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, - Oshkosh, Wisconsin (Asst. Director, Conference Planning); The Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington (Director of Conferences); Southern Oregon University, Ashland, Oregon (Director of Alumni Relations); currently Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon (Director of University Events & University Conference Services).
At each place of employment, I have applied technology to improve repetitive processes to create efficiencies and minimize duplication and saving time and resources in the process.
On a personal note, I am married (Anissa - BS, Finance, Southern Oregon University), and has two great kids - Kyle (11) and Lauren (7).
