Is there anyone out there that has created a Ning for you and your students...a class Ning? I know that the answer is probably YES! I would love for you to share your ideas, achievements, struggles, warnings, etc. I would also love to see one.

I am a 4th grade teacher at a 1-to-1 laptop school. I have 21 amazing students and considering a Ning environment for use this year. I am thinking of this for blogging, forums/discussions, announcements, and introductions to 2.0.

Hi Shavon. I created a wiki and private online social network for the "Great Debate of 2008" project, an exploration and discussion of issues and candidates surrounding the 2008 presidential election. Over a 140 people joined and it was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with other students around the country in a private online social network to share information and ideas related to the 2008 presidential election.

The network is private, but I am happy to invite you to look around.

Matt Montagne of the Castilleja School created a Ning online social network entitled “Welcome to the Federal Convention.” Students chose a Founding Father as their persona, then chatted and “made friends” with other Founding Fathers. (Who knew that George Washington was such a fun online socialite?) I could put you in touch with him

I am attending a workshop later today on Ning and may have other examples to share later!
Hi Shavon

We set up a ning space for 10 students on a Masters level course. It's a great way for them to share ideas, resources, links and the tagging means that they build a really accessible/searchable resource. There are some lively debates and discussions going on there and the students have made it into an inviting, rewarding social space by sharing photos, videos and music.

We've been running the space for about 3 months now and are going to have a face-to-face session to get their opinions on its usefulness as an educational tool on Monday.
