Training, training, training! This program can be great, but they have to be trained to work independently. (I taught it for 2 yrs, now I'm Tech Exploratory) We had 3 groups. Group 1 was with the teacher and we worked out of the textbook, Group 2 was independent reading, supervised by a teacher's aide, Group 3 was on the computer, troubleshooting usually was the teacher's aide. Questions so I can answer you better: 1) Is this your students' first year in the program? 2) What grade level? 3) Are you receiving training from Scholastic?
