For almost 20 years I was a technology teacher at an elementary school...helped teachers integrate technology as well as ran a lab for teachers who didn't feel as comfortable. We always created projects connected to something students were studying as a way for students to show what they learned as a culmination, or brainstormed and researched projects they would finish in class. For the last 4 years I have been in the district's middle school (no more $$ for the tech coordinator position!). It's been a journey, starting as a tech exploratory teacher, then an out - of -classroom position, then a 7th Gr. Language Arts and 8th gr. Read 180 (intervention) teacher, and for the last 2 weeks back to technology exploratory! In each position I have integrated techonology (and in Read 180 beyond the software provided to blogs and other projects). I have also taught a class at a local university for 20 years, teaching teachers how to integrate technology into their classrooms...most are new teachers, this class is one to finish off their credential). We (I say "we" because I am constantly learning too) are learning about Web 2.0 applications as well as the standard tools they have in their classrooms.

Hi Teresa,
I will be teaching READ 180 for the first time for the 2009-2010 school year. This is my first time leading a classroom. I would appreciate any tips, advice, ideas you could provide.
Thanks!
With your work in Technology Integration, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording conducted by Nellie Deutsch on Technology Integration.
