I am currently my districts reading specialist for grades 5-12. I teach a high school second chance reading class so am always looking for ideas for read alouds from short stories. I also have 7th and 8th grade reading exploratory and am looking for ideas for those students also. I have small groups of 5-8th grade students who are struggling readers.
Hi Dianna! Looking forward to getting to know you and to collaborating with you! Reading specialist for that many grades is a tough, but rewarding job.
Happy New Year! I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from Iowa!
You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
Don't know if you have seen any of the information on the flooding in Iowa but it is really bad here. I live near Cedar Rapids/ Iowa city area. Check out the news about us
You're lucky to have a mac - I started on one but school is all PC.. I think you could do something similar with the slideshow tool available on the mac (is it keynote?) as you can add print, audio and photos.
This is a shortened version of the link to the page on Microsoft on Photostory - http://tinyurl.com/4f869 . It can be downloaded for free (used on PCs).
http://tinyurl.com/6e33th is the link to Langwitches' blog which is a tutorial on how to use Photostory. http://tinyurl.com/a26n8 is a link to the microsoft tutorial.
Hope this helps.
Hi Dianna, earlier this term an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher shared with our staff a Microsoft Photostory her students had worked on the previous term where they added their oral stories to some photographs they had taken. Great for language development.
