Description: We are excited about this opportunity for Chicago area elementary school teachers to attend the Colonial Williamsburg Teaching American History Conference: Bringing History to Life in Your Classroom on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 8:30-3:30p.m. at Morgan Park Academy, 2153 W. 111th Street, Chicago IL. Thanks to the generosity of donors to Colonial Williamsburg, there is no registration fee or materials charge for this conference. Be sure to forward this invitation to other teachers in your area who may also be interested in registering and attending the conference.
Registered teachers will participate in sessions that provide early American history content as well as engaging and innovative instructional strategies for teaching history. Step back in time and meet people from the past such as Martha Washington and Lydia Broadnax, a slave to George Wythe who later gained her freedom. Investigate the daily life of the gentry, middling sort and slaves and discover how the events of the American Revolution shaped their lives and decisions
