The Toronto Student Film Festival is a short film festival that showcases the work of filmmakers between the ages of 12 and 21. We are one of the few "free-to-submit" festivals and we are currently looking for filmmakers to submit films that are 6 minutes or less in length. The deadline for entries is April 1st, 2011. Our showcase event will be held at the Toronto Underground Cinema on May 14th, 2011.
In past years we have received films from across Canada, the US, Europe and Asia. Our submissions are pared down to a program of twenty-five films that is then given to our judges who select the award winners. Last year, our judging panel was made up of Niv Fichman, Paul Gross, and Deepa Mehta. Our panel this year includes Sarah Polley, Jane Tattersal, Yonah Lewis and Calvin Thomas.
We are currently accepting films for the 2011 Toronto Student Film Festival and would like to encourage your students to submit their work. For the winners, we offer outstanding prizes from monetary rewards to in-the-field work experiences and specialized summer programs.
