Michael McVey - I was born in Canada of British immigrant parents. Emigrated to the US - Tucson, Arizona. Now I am heading back closer to home in Canada. I'll be an Assistant Professor in the Teacher Education Department at Eastern Michigan University.
I'm Willis Whitlock. I started my teaching career at Ramah High School in Ramah, New Mexico in August of 1983.
RHS was and is still a 7-12 school with 100 kids enrolled on a good day. When I showed up to take the job as the English Department, they had just purchased 3 Apple IIEs for the school. They put one in the library, one on the secretary's desk and one in my classroom. I was straight out of college so I must know what to do with it.
I've figured a way to have at least one computer in my classroom ever since (and various assorted other gadgets). I've taken lots of classes, been to lots of conferences and taught a lot of people ways to use tech.
I currently teach History to 7th and 8th graders just north of the San Bernardino Mountains in the Mojave Desert. Every year I try to drag another colleague or two into this millennium.
I am a third grade teacher from Los Angeles CA. I have "engaged" technology and its in use in Education for the last few years. I am exited about the possibilities with Social Networks, especially around the edublogosphere. This year I started a classroom blog; www.room36.wordpress.com and I also keep a professional reflection blog; www.coordinator2.wordpress.com So what is Classroom 2.0 all about?
Hi Jose
I liked your blogs very much.
I guess, for me, Classroom 2.0 is another gathering place for ideas, discussions and sharing of resources as we all try to figure out just how technological tools can help us in the classroom as reflective teachers.

I have been knocking around computers and education for the past forty years or so. Back when, I was the longest serving trainee teacher in NSW until Neville Wran did away with the teaching bond. This meant that I didn’t complete my DipEd until some thirty-five years after my first degree. I graduated from Sydney University with First Class Honours in Geography and went to Macquarie University as the first graduate student in Social Geography . I spent four and half years at Macquarie for my PhD (f). then became a Town Planner working on saving Woolloomooloo with Jack Mundey and the BLF’s Green Bans as well as working on the Pitt Street Mall and the pedestrianisation of the city. This led to my becoming the Acting Computerisation Project Manager on a $1 million project which eventually cost the city around $30M (thanks to some corrupt consultants and TCs).
Having seen that there was a lot of money in computers, I spent the next thirty years lining my pockets with some of it working for companies such as NCR, AT&T, (computer systems) Gupta/Centura, (computer software) Mbrane (wireless communications and embedded systems) and Open Net. (the first Australia-wide educational ISP). My realm of activity was mainly across the Asia Pacific region (out to India and up to Korea and China).
When the floor dropped out of the IT market and salaries plummeted, I decided to ‘retire’ to teaching. I recently completed by DipEd and MEd (ICT) at UNE. I have been teaching IT on the Northern Beaches for the past five years and am now also engaged in assisting a number of secondary schools with their implementation of ICT across the curriculum.
My topic is based on Professor John Hedberg’s ( Macquarie Innovations Centre) concept of Disruptive Pedagogy and the implementation of ICT across the curriculum.
I have been married to my first wife for the past thirty-five years. She is the longest serving member on the NSW BOS and a Director of a Education, Legal and Health organisations as well as a Deputy in a State HS. She completed her EdD at UTS some years back with a thesis on teacher stress. We have three fantastic daughters. The oldest is doing Honours in Orgnaisational Learning at UTS/Sacramento State. The middle one is doing Honours in Geography Education at Macquarie and the youngest is in Year 11.
I have been an independent Councillor on Willoughby Council for three terms (over 10 years) including a stint as Acting Mayor. I am currently also engaged in my Mayor’s second go at securing a State seat as an Independent in the upcoming State elections on 24 March.
Retiring to teaching has meant that I have had much, much more time to spend with my family. We have done at least two overseas trips per year for the past five years. We are off to Turkey in the Easter break. However, I am now starting to run out of ready money .
I haven’t really decided what I am going to do with my life after EdD, but as usual, I expect something will turn up.
Hello, I'm Jerry Butler, a tech specialist at ESSDACK. We are located in Hutchinson, Kansas USA, in the south central portion of the state. We're an education service center with over 50 members. I get to work with and learn from some of the finest educators in our area. I'm not a classroom teacher, but I've taught plenty of workshops on technology over the years. I'm more of a server room and workstation sorta guy now. My job includes setting up and keeping the 2.0 stuff working for my folks. I'm a longtime Mac Fanatic and more recent open source devotee. I'm a 25 year veteran of education support, and I'm passionate about lifelong learning and giving students the real and metaphorical tools they need to thrive in the world they will inherit from us. That's the difficult job. Your job. I get the easy stuff - making the bits fly.
Hi my name is Andrew and I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I teach and co-ordinate ICT in my school to children aged from 5-12 years in grades prep to six in primary school. I'm also doing some ICT post grad. study at Melbourne Uni. At the moment we're looking at flexible learning environments which certainly includes web 2.0. Thanx for this network!
Hi, I'm orginally an Australian, partially schooled (to tertiary) in New Zealand, developed my career in the UK as a Graphic Designer, and having returned to NZ and retrained, I am now Teacher-in-Charge of ICT in a small rural K7-12(13) college in South Waikato, New Zealand.
Hello! Jerry Braun here from Hays, Kansas. Officially trained as a math teacher (did that for 10 years) now I am an Education Consultant. Part of my responsibility is to facilitate the Technology Rich Classroom grant in one of my schools. I plan to complete my masters in Instructional Technology this December.
Hi there! I live in Southernmost Illinois - yes....Illinois does go south of St. Louis! :-) Anyway, I have both a Bachelors and Masters degree in Music Education - but....I have taken lots of workshops and classes on my passion - computers and instructional technology. Currently, I teach for a Community College doing both online and onground (hybrid) classes three days a week and the other two, I teach K-5 music and help with technology integration for those grades. Next year, I'm going to be full time at the grade school! I will be doing the K-5 music, but I will "officially" be working with both the teachers and the students on integrating technology in the classroom. I"m very excited about the opportunities coming my way and am VERY much open to suggestions!
