I teach English and Spanish at Dawson School, a small school of 160 students in grades pre-k-12 in rural west Texas.  With the tentative approval of my superintendent, I want to bring a 1:1 laptop initiative to our district.   Many districts in our surrounding area have already done this, so we don't have "to invent the wheel."  I have toured one area district to view their technology use, but beyond creating a presentation to sell our school board, staff, and community on this idea, I am not sure where to go from here.  Does anyone have a presentation advocating a 1:1 laptop program you would be willing to share to give me some more ideas?  Is there perhaps a plan from a computer manufacturer that may be used to approach this?  This is a pretty big undertaking.  We will have to seek out federal grant funding to begin, but I think our school board might eventually financially support a leap to laptops for all students once it was it was in progress.  Any ideas, strategies, tactics, support, etc., would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Les Biffle
