Jorge:
Has anything happened to push this project forward or are you jujst choosing a class or two to collaborate with? I know it's hard with everyone just getting back to school.

Hi Jorge,

I am a fifth grade science, math, and health teacher in Sparta, NJ. My classes are presently using Wikispaces for various projects. We're looking for other classes to collaborate with either using wiki or Skype or both. We are presently studying Matter and Chemistry in Science and will be moving on to cells and classification after the winter break. I am very open to ideas about what to collaborate about. I would just love to connect my students with others around the US/world. We also having video conferencing equipment.
Great!! I would love to talk more about it. We just finished Matter before Thanksgiving so it would be a good review for our kids. We will be doing Solar Systems after the winter break. We have video conference equipment that we can use as well. I do have a skype account (jrgcvzs) if you want to set up a meeting to talk more about it. Also we would be willing to work on a wiki as well. Let me know!
I am very interested in partnering with other classes to explore 6th grade math concepts
We would be interested in partnering with you to teach 6th grade math concepts. What did you have in mind? Our team is getting ipod touches and notebook soon. Where are you from? We are in NH.
We are a 6th grade team in NH and have just started doing animal projects for our LA class. The kids picked an animal and they are doing research using 2 column notes. Once the research is complete we are typing on pbworks and inserting a you tube video on their animal. We would love to share with a 6th grade class on the pbworks. Please let me know if you are interested by emailing dcmitchell@sau56.org.
Thanks!
I have a sixth grade class that would love to blog with you, or anyone else. You can visit our blogs here.

Hope to hear from you.

The Global Virtual Classroom (GVC) is a collection of free, online educational activities and resources.  It aims to complement the efforts of governments and educators around the world to integrate technology into their classrooms and curricula and to link their schools to the Internet in educationally productive ways.

The GVC vision is to empower, enable and connect students around the world using Internet technology.  It provides students with a stimulating, positive and enjoyable environment along with the opportunity to develop skills that are essential in the 21st century:  cross-cultural communication, collaboration through teamwork, information technology and website design.

The major projects of the GVC are the annual Contest and the Clubhouse Program. During the Contest, teams from schools from around the world compete in an effort to build websites that best meet contest objectives.  Each team is made up of students from schools in different countries working together.  The websites are judged
on the quality of their content and presentation, effective collaboration,
and a focus on helping others through knowledge or activities.

The contest runs from October through April, with winners announced and cash prizes awarded in May.

The Clubhouse is a non-competitive flexible program focused on collaborative learning. Projects can include any topics such as: language class exchanges, environmental research, collaborative science projects, and discussion groups.  This program can begin at any time and last months or multiple years.
I will keep your information handy. I am also looking for connections to communicate with for a variety of topics. I will talk with the teachers in September to see what our teachers goals are.
I am the technology facilitator at a charter school in Wilson, NC and would love a collaborative effort with your school. Feel free to contact me if you would like to pursue this further!!
