3-D Archaeology in the Classroom: Free workshop on April 12 in Walnut Creek

For Bay Area teachers interested in archaeology and new technologies being used at
historic sites, I will be running a free workshop on Saturday, April 12 in Walnut Creek.
The workshop is sponsored by CyArk (http://www.cyark.org), a non-profit
organization who's goal is to digitaly preserve endangered archaeology
sites and make the data accessible for researchers and the public. The
online archive includes 3-D models created by laser scanners and
historical reconstructions. The website also features panoramas and
videos from Pompeii, Thebes, Angkor Wat, Tikal and other sites.

The workshop will focus on ways that educators can use media and data from
archaeology sites in the classroom to teach history, social studies, math,
and science. The lesson plans include both online and hand-on activities. Some of the activities include digital storytelling, Scratch, Google Maps, and other interactive maps.

If you have any more questions about the workshop or would like to attend,
email me at nicole.medina@cyark.org. Feel free to invite any other
interested teachers as well! More information can also be found here:

Hope all you Indiana Jones lovers can be there!

Have you thought about video streaming the event?
I would really like to! I've never used a video streaming service before. I'm thinking about using US stream tv. Do you know if it is easy to use for a beginner? Thanks!
Yes, very easy. It helps to have a good webcam, or you can use some digital video cameras. I have had good success with the Logitech webcams, and the Orbit AF has been good for workshops like this.
