Hi! I'm a fourth grade teacher in New York and I was wondering if anyone had ideas about integrating technology into the Social Studies curriculum. Our standards include New York State History from Revolutionary War times to present day New York. We've done brochures, reports, and things of that nature, but I was hoping for something more exciting for the class. Anyone have any ideas??? Thank you!

Do blogs or podcasts as famous New Yorkers.
Do a wiki to help others learn about your state.
Use primary sources pertaining to your state.
Do a play.
Do a simulation
Have kids correspond by letter with each other as famous New Yorkers.

Let me know if you need specifics.
How about a blog style of diary entry for a grade 4 student mentioning daily activities and routines. They could do one during the revolutionary war and one for today. If you have lots of time, which you don't now, they could do every generation. You would have to find the resources for them to read to find out what life was like during each of the time periods but it sounds like fun. they could include pictures for each blog entry.
