Research dissertation - ideas

Hi all,

I am about to begin my 2nd Term of a Masters degree in Technology and Learning, with the emphasis being a research dissertation of my choice.

In college I will be tutoring two classes, of young and mature students in ICT (individuals who, for socio-economic reasons, have not yet realised their full educational potential), giving them the appropriate skills to complete their courses. Typically instructing them on how to use Word, Excel, Powerpoint and email, to create documents and presentations required by their lecturers.

So basically I'm looking for any ideas you guys may have on an area/tools I should possibly research.

I have been deliberating on a few ideas/subjects, in particular 'Web 2.0 Classroom, fact or fiction?', are we using such technologies, do they work, what feedback is attained?

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance
