Innovative schools - The use of Web 2.0 in classroomsWe need your help.

We need your help.

CoSN has received funding from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation to identify organizational and policy issues in the use of new media in schools.

1) Please tell us about any policies that your district or other districts have relating to Web 2.0 (blogs, gaming, social networking, etc.).

2) Help us identify superintendents, CTO's and district curriculum leaders who are using Web 2.0. Don't be shy!

Send copies of policies and names of Web2.0 pioneers to Ariadna Mahon-Santos at (202) 861 2676 ext 122 or at ariadna@cosn.org before October 31, 2008.

The purpose of this year-long project is to help educators utilize the new applications of the World Wide Web in their classrooms, by closing the gap between classrooms and the new generation of information and communication resources that children access outside the classrooms.

During the next few months, the CoSN research team we will be compiling literature on implementation of participatory /new media issues in schools, including school district policies, guidelines, and practices that promote media applications in classrooms. We need your help identifying this body of knowledge.

Thank you for your help in this important endeavor.

This is great stuff. (Full disclosure: I'm the director of CoSN's K-12 Open Technologies Initiative! :)

Let me offer to host a Classroom 2.0 web meeting on this topic if you'd like. We did this recently for PBS and their election materials, and just over a week ago about a research project that is specifically looking at Classroom 2.0. They are pretty informative events, and a good way to focus feedback.
