I enjoy surrounding myself with teachers because I learn what your doing so I can continue to offer that in the environment I'm in. There are so many interesting things you do and things I don't know I'm motivated to learn.

Hi safebets ,I try to be like you that I have been teaching arabic language for speakers and non speakers in libya ,Egypt and Dubai now . I am planning to go to OISE+TORONTO to study M A in curriculum and teaching but what i need in Canada to be teacher ? thanks
Dear Sherif, you would need an education degree, and to be certified in the particular province you want to teach in. So if you study in Toronto, you need a valid teaching certificate from Ontario School board. If you want to teach in the other provinces , you can as well, but there are certain requirements in each province. I think the best way is to look online for the specific school board for the province you want to teach in. I know for sure you need to have an education degree and to have a valid certificate for that province. I have been teaching overseas and not in Canada, so I am probably not the best source. Hope this helps.

Hi all,I have been teaching teaching arabic language for speakers and non speakers in Libya ,Egypt and Dubai now . I am planning to go to OISE+TORONTO to study M A in curriculum and teaching but is that suitable or MA in education quality
If you are interested in Ontario, take a look at the Ontario College of Teachers website. They are the governing body, not an educational institution. They approve Universitiy programs leading to certification etc. They also would be the body to which you would ask for any kind of assessment of international credentials, however, I am not at all certain how that process works presently.

There are a few masters programs that can lead to Ontario certification. I think OISE might have some, there are definately some in the Northern USA that cater to certification with the Ontario College of Teachers. You wany to look for a program that leads to certification to be sure. Most of the programs in Ontario that lead to certification are offered as a B.Ed. however I have heard of some at the Masters level, I just don't know where to send you to look...

the website is at www.oct.ca

Presently, we have a serious surplus of qualified teachers attempting to get a job here. I applied for a 0.1 position (one half day per week) and there were a reported 150+ candidates applying for this.

Best regards,

Val
Hi everyone! My name is Jessica and I'm in my second year teaching. I teach secnd grade in a very small town in western Kansas (the middle of nowhere). I'm also currently working on my ESL endorsement (and quite possibly my Master's).
Hello Jessica,

Welcome to classroom 2.0. I am glad that you have choose to teach as a profession. They say that the first three years are the hardest, so it sounds like you have it made. I truly believe that teachers have the greatest reward, by having the opportunity to help others on a daily basis. You make a difference in each of your students life's.

BTW, I am from Kansas too. I am in El Dorado, which is close to Wichita. You can learn more about me on my new website. It is not completed yet, but you can visit it at http://Donnie-Smith.com

Thanks, Donnie Smith
