welcome Kaifi Allahu akbar that is nice interest

Hello! Tim here,

I'm a web safety advocate and educator working out of the San Francisco Bay area, AKA Silicon Valley.

I'm part of a NFP organization that helps teachers, parents and kids with web safety issues.

We host an extensive resource of  engaging content on our website (kiwicommons.com) for kids, educators and parents.

The big thing for us is engaging adult-child conversations. It's so important because the most tragic and publicized problems could have been easily avoided if kids had someone to go to for advice.

Hi everyone!  I teach at Archbishop O'Hara High School in Kansas City, a Lasallian School.  I also serve as assistant principal.

Awesome!  Welcome!

Hello! My name is Marissa Burnes and I am currently a senior at Illinois State University. I am a Secondary Education and History major! I will be student teaching Civics and U.S. History next Spring!

Hi everyone

I'm David from Sydney, AU. I'm a science/biology teacher who has been working in schools around here for about 18 years.  I'm looking to collaborate with other teachers on domain specific material in science, inquiry learning and creative avenues for teaching.

I'm particularly interested in the work of Lee Sheldon in the "XP instead of grades gaming model" at the moment and how to incorporate it into a high school classroom programme

Cheers

Hi! I'm Lauren from Colchester, VT. Reading Specialist. Thrilled to be here!

Hey out there my name is Amanda Johnson and I am working on getting my CA clear credential and my MAT with a special education focus. I have my BA in Early Childhood Development. I am very new to 2.0 and honestly am a little lost, but am hopeful I will navigate through this and understand what it is all about. I am the mother to 2 young boys, Jack (2 years old) and Colt (7 weeks old). I am very busy but loving every minute of life. I am not currently teaching, but working part time and spending these crucial first years home with my kids. I am hopeful to start teaching in a couple years.

I joined this as an assignment for my current class and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations to webinars I should attend? Anything is helpful, thanks!

Amanda

Hi Everyone--I'm Ellen and I teach high school English and Theatre in Metro Detroit. I'm excited to be here and I look forward to learning and sharing new ideas.

Hello all

My name is Dan and i am from Buffalo, NY USA.  I am not a teacher, but, found your site doing a search.  I am disabled and have a hard time sitting for longer then an hour or so.  Basically what happened was my spine aged three times the rate my body did, so, now that I am 45, my spine is 130 ish.  Needless to say, I am in a lot of pain.  I thought if anyone would be able to help me, it would be teachers who have to have so much knowledge about everything today to help their students.

I want to start writing again, but, can't due to my health.  I recently learned about voice to text software that is good enough to write stories with (and then I can read them over and make corrections).  Can anyone point me in the correct direction on how to do this?  I plan to write mostly screenplays, but, short stories and novels are possible too.  I have a ton of ideas that I never followed up on.  I have a Mac as well, so, any help would have to work with a Mac.

Thank you all for reading about me and I hope that someone can lead me in the right direction.  I am on SSD, so, I don't make a lot of cash, free software would be awesome, but, if none is available, then I will purchase it.

thanx again

Dan

Hi Dan,

I too live with pain and had to comment because your intro sounds so familiar to me. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis.

Here is a resource for you http://udltechtoolkit.wikispaces.com/Free+text+to+speech. I also know that Google is doing things with voice now too.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Tracy Watanabe
