Hi everyone! I'm Catherine Baker, from sunny (and hot) northeastern North Carolina. I teach high school math - all subjects, but next year will be AP Calculus, Precalculus and Algebra. I am very eager to learn all the cool things that this website has to offer!
Hello Catherine and welcome from winter in Australia. At least our days are starting to get longer!! There are lots to learn from this site, so join in the forums and discussions and join some groups. Check out rashkath, an Indian teacher who has a wonderful maths blog site.
Hi there! I'm Bonnie Keene, a 4th grade teacher in Tucson, Arizona. I was blessed to get a Smart Board in my classroom and I'm hoping to find even more ways to "tech" out my classroom experience this year. I want to try podcasting, wikis, maybe even a class social network (although I'm having trouble finding one that works well for elementary students - any suggestions out there?). I'm hoping to find all kinds of great new links and suggestions through this site. I'm pretty comfortable with technology, but there is sooooooooooooo much out there, sometimes it gets overwhelming. I hope everyone is enjoying the last bit of summer. :)
Hi Bonnie. Thanks for joining us at Classroom 2.0 You are blessed having an interactive whiteboard. I'm currently working on creating one by buying a Wiimote and using the opensource software freely available. You will find lots of energy for new ideas here. It will be good if you can share your enthusiasm and what you've learnt. I hope to read some contributions from you soon.
I want to make the Internet a safe place for the Child in all of us. If the first time you experience the Internet is at 4 years old on your parents lap experiencing the spirit of giving with Santa for all the right reasons rather than @ 13 for all the wrong reasons our world is going to be a much safer place for many years to come.

Hi.

I'm Tarehna in Portland, Oregon. I'm not quite yet a teacher--I'm set to do my student teaching in the Fall, but I'm lining up resources and support before that gets started because I know between student teaching and two young children, I won't have the energy. In my past life working in professional development in higher ed, I was always and enthusiastic early adopter, but that was back when "blog" still had quotes around it and Web 2.0 did not yet exist! I'm excited to see what's out there in terms of technology in the K-8 classroom.

I have a real zeal for integrating technology throughout the curriculum.
I was a participant in the 2006 Yahoo! Teacher of Merit program and I have tried many different web 2.0 tools in the classroom.

I'm so glad to hear about this forum! I teach 8th grade in the high desert in Southern California. I am looking forward to expanding technology in my classroom and exposing the kids to 21st century literacy skills. I hope to blog with others who can help me along the way!
Julia, welcome. I know how disappointing it is when a post has no replies so I hope this serves as encouragement to contribute in whichever way you can. I am learning that Ning social networking helps me move forward in small steps on a broad front, rather than leaps and bounds in a small area.

If you've not started blogging with your students yet I reccommend that you begin one for yourself (or for your class) initially. That way you will build your expertise and will have more to offer students in their tentative first steps.

Two suggestsion:
1. click on "Follow" on a few discussions and stay in the loop.
2. enter into conversation with people and claim them as friends at Classroom2.0 That might help to have you coming back and taking part in the conversations.
