For over a year, now, my head has been buzzing with the excitement of OSS. Having spent many thousands of pounds on software licences over the last 25 years I am eagerly anticipating the great overthrow of those software barons who have held us captive to their whole omnivoracious culture.
So I ask, quite simply, Are we there yet? In otherwords, is it now possible to run a whole network on OSS, from servers, to network topologies, from PCs as workstations, using open software for the full range of student activities, using remote access, assessment tools and ePortfolios etc etc?
Examples, suggestions, problems overcome, issues etc most welcome.
